Signed Contract of Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study of Nangarhar International Airport
Good News to the respected people of Nangarhar Province: Afghan Tarin Engineering Services Company (ATES) Associating with our International Partners Technital & SOCECO from Italy proudly announces the signing of a contract with Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) Under Ministry of Transport for Consultancy Services of Feasibility Study of Nangarhar International Airport, the project is funded by Government of Afghanistan. The main objective of this project is to (i) develop an international airport that fulfill the future demands and requirements of air transportation for the Eastern zone of the country and this new airport might be an alternative for Hamid Karzai International Airport at Kabul. At present eastern zone is making use of Hamid karzai international Airport for air transport purpose which is quit inconvenient for the Eastern zone population as a whole. (ii) Second objective of the project is increasing domestic connections, through the provision of reliable and standard civil aviation facilities in accordance with the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards, Eastern zone Social and Economic growth through the connections and financial incomes, and the development of the tourism industry. (iii) To achieve strategic objectives and targets of Civil Aviation Authority to operationalize the airport latest by 2035. The following factors will be considered while preparing the feasibility study: 1- Regional Plan 2- Airport security and protection 3- Proximity to other Airports 4- Ground Accessibility 5- Topography of the Area 6- Obstructions 7- Visibility 8- Wind Direction 9- Noise Nuisance 10- Grading, Drainage and soil characteristics 11- Future Developments 12- Availability of Utilities from Town 13- Economic/Cost Consideration 14- Site Evaluation based on Airport Configuration. And in the meanwhile below surveys will be conducted: 1- Traffic Survey 2- Meteorological Survey 3- Topographical Survey 4- Geotechnical Survey 5- Hydrological / Drainage Survey 6- Material Survey 7- Economical Survey 8- Social Survey 9- Environmental Survey 10- Accessibility Survey. There are two proposed Locations for the development of a new international airport, the first proposed location is Dasht-e-Gambiri at Kama (khiwa) district located at a distance of 30 km at the North of Jalalabad capital of the province approximately 180 km from Kabul capital, and 10 km far to the south of Kabul-Torkham Highway, and the second proposed location is Enzeri deserts (Daag) at Roudaat district located at a distance of 25 km at the east of Jalalabad capital of the province, approximately 190 km from Kabul capital, and 1 km far to the south of Kabul-Torkham Highway, the best location out of these two will be selected after the studies.
